Useful information during COVID-19 period

Check out some useful information that you must know before traveling to Turkey:

How to take my HES number?

This number is required for Turkish citizens to view a passenger’s background before boarding a domestic flight. If you are a non-Turkish citizen, your request will be made more simply.

Please, type the following HES information and sent to 2023:

–  Passport number;

–   Year of birth;

This request will be made by a Turkish operator. Then we can help you get this number. Example: HES FP586242 1980 SANTOS. AFTER SEND TO 2023.

Note: you must put a space between data.

Istanbul COVID Test

Turkey does not require testing on the arrival of passengers. But, if you want to go to a country that requires this test, then you can have it at the city airport.

You can perform the COVID test at Istanbul airport. You can find testing sites in front of the arrival gates of 14 and 17. The test cost is 250 Turkish lira. The result comes out in Turkish and English in 15 minutes. PCR testing done at Istanbul airport is accredited and recognized by the countries that require the test.

Traveling to Turkey? Check out some precautions you should take during your leisure time

Traveling during a pandemic is difficult, and it can cause anxiety in many tourists, as there are many factors to consider. If you plan to travel, here are some tips that you should be aware of:

Currently, it is very important to travel respecting the rules of hygiene and social distance. The measures are taken at airports and buses, as well as hotels and places where crowds can’t be avoided. Especially now, when a recent study showed how a single COVID-19-positive person infected 23 others on a poorly ventilated Chinese bus, traveling can be more of a headache than an opportunity for culture and leisure.

– HES: what you should know about it

The first thing you should know when traveling within Turkey, whether by car, bus, train, or plane, is that you need a HES code. The abbreviation of the Ministry of Health’s Hayat Eve Sığar app (in English: Life Fits into Home), the 10-digit code allows you to travel between Turkey’s provinces, as it ensures that you are not infected with the coronavirus and have the risk of infection nor had recent contact with a positive case.

Airlines and travel agencies generally require that you enter the code before payment as a prerequisite to completing your reservation. If you do not want to download the application, which also shows risk areas nearby and can alert you if you have had contact with a recently diagnosed patient, you can always follow the SMS route by sending a text message with the word HES, followed by your nationality, passport number, year of birth and last name (with a single space between all information) until 2023. Turkish citizens can also visit the e-government platform.

Here are some rules you must follow while traveling:

– Always wear a face mask;
– Respect the rules in airports and airplanes;
– Follow closely the regulations established by the General Directorate of Railways of Turkey (TCDD);
– Disinfect and clean the area where you will be sitting;
– Make sure to keep your hands clean during the trip, washing or disinfecting them regularly;
– Cough or sneeze in the direction of the elbow;
– Change your mask every four hours or when it gets wet;
– Choose well-ventilated seats, preferably near a window;
– Stay away from public restrooms as much as possible.

Note: When choosing accommodation, guests should opt for establishments that have the COVID-19 certification “safe tourism” from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The certification program is part of a scheme launched at the beginning of the season and is based on a list of 132 criteria needed to accommodate.
