Discover the Doğu Express: the main train line in Turkey
Known as one of the most fun attractions in Turkey, the Doğu express runs through the entire country. Also, due to its extension that connects the capital Ankara to the city of Kars (far west, close to the border with Armenia), participating in the Doğu express is an extremely pleasant adventure.
During the 1930s, railway construction in Turkey reached the mark of 2,846.2 km of completed lines. Thus, the Doğu Express appeared to meet the need to connect cities in the west, central and eastern regions. The work began in 1939 and was completed in 1962.
