Magnificent Architecture: Blue Mosque


The most famous mosque in the city of Istanbul, built in 1616, is a beautiful example of Islamic and Turkish architecture.

The original name of the mosque is Sultan Ahmet Mosque, for it is the name of the sultan who financed the building and was the sixteenth sultan of the Ottoman dynasty.

This mosque stands out for having 6 minarets.

It used more than 20 thousand tiles of the city of İznik, old Nicea.

The architect Sedefkar Mehmet Ağa completed this work in 7 years. The worship area is 64 x 72 meters.

The height of the dome is 43 meters and the diameter is 23.5 meters.
